[ In the kitchen of 1493, Souma takes a step back from where he's set up his phone to record himself. His headband is still around his wrist at the moment, but he's definitely already got an apron on in preparation, so he looks like someone that's ready for a throwdown with Bobby Flay right now. Which is strangely appropriate, given the fact he's about to ask for challenges from the community as well as give an offer. ]

Hey, everybody! I'm Yukihira Souma, and since I've been here for about a month now and this place seems like it's pretty American, United States-style, I figured I'd make an offer to the community before Thanksgiving rolled around. Food's a pretty big deal for any holiday, y'know, and as a chef I'm all about food. But I know that there's gotta be people that either don't know how to make Thanksgiving staples, or they just don't really know how to cook beyond the basics. [ Or at all, don't give people so much credit, Souma, two of the people you live with can't cook for shit. ] So, if anybody was interested...

[ He puts his fists on his hips, grinning big. Ignore the fact he doesn't usually cook Thanksgiving food, he's great at improv and learning on the fly. ] I've got a decade of cooking experience from working in my family's restaurant, and I'd be happy to give cooking lessons! For the holidays, and year-round, depending on how much practice you want to get in.

If you'd like me to prove myself as a good cook, since I can't really give you a resume or anything here, just tell me what your favorite food is and I'll make it for you! [ Then, he pauses, looking thoughtful before he resumes like an idea's dawned on him. ] Or, hey, even if you don't want cooking lessons... Let me know what your favorite food is, everyone, and I'll serve it up for you, Yukihira style! If you can't pick, then just tell me whatever comes to mind and I'll make it all. It'd definitely help keep me in top form while I'm here, since I don't have any of my culinary classes here. The HOMEC ones don't really cut it compared to Toutsuki's rigorous training.

Turkey is usually the centerpiece of a meal, but sides generally involve potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberries, stuffing... Pumpkin, lots of pumpkin.

Can we substitute turkey to chicken if we don't have turkey?

Nah, it's actually agedashi tofu.

I don't see why not, really. You can do a lot of the same things with a chicken that you can do with a turkey, just one of them is bigger than the other by a lot. The flavors aren't that different, either.

[ A beat, and then he laughs. ]

Something that required smoking or grilling, maybe, since you had me thinking it had a lot of steps!

It's still a challenge, since it's your favorite food, but nah. It's pretty fun taking on harder stuff.

Yeah, we didn't. Our island was pretty small and... secluded, I guess. But I'd still like to learn more about thanksgiving... food and everything else.

Absolutely! It's a good way of getting to know someone, working alongside them. [ It's how he made a lot of his friends, after all, even though half of them were rivalries... ] And I'm not really much of a baker? So if you'd be okay teaching me some things, too, I think it'd be really fun!

Yep! Even if you get things wrong, you just have to learn from your mistakes so that you get it right.

American holidays have some pretty interesting food, and I don't know all of it. But we'll figure it out!

[ he sounds affectionate with it though--this must be what he sounds like when he talks about baseball. ] Mm, I agree, though! I really like comfort food anyway... my mom's a good cook, and I'd like to learn to be sort of like her. [ ... ] My mom at home, that is!
